Chocolate Truffle Recipe

Truffles make great party favors, gifts, Easter basket treats and Christmas delights! When I make these for parties, everyone asks to take a few home. So, I always prepare extras and put them in favor boxes. Guests just love this!

Elegant candies, such these chocolate truffles, are expensive in the stores and they are not nearly as delicious.

Recipe for Chocolate Truffles

Ingredients:

• 1/4 cup butter
• 3/4 cup whipping cream
• 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 1 1/3 cups milk chocolate morsels
• 1/4 cup liqueur such as Amaretto, Frangelico, or Kahlua (if desired)
• coating for the truffles: coconut, grated chocolate, powdered sugar, sprinkles,
• cocoa powder, nuts, tempered melted chocolate or whatever else you like

Combine the butter, cream, and sugar in a heavy saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.

Add the milk chocolate pieces and stir until they dissolve completely. Add the liqueur and stir to combine completely.

Chill the mixture in the refrigerator overnight.

Use a teaspoon or melon baller to scoop out enough truffle mixture to shape the balls and roll in one of the coatings.

You can also dip your truffles in melted and tempered chocolate. If you do this, place the truffles back in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow them to firm up before coating them.
