Create Charades Cards
You can always play charades without having cards prepared. But it can be more fun if the cards are already prepared. Nothing is more fair than the chance of the draw. Will you draw an easy word or a difficult one?
Additionally, if children are involved, cards make it easier for them to come up with ideas.
Here's a simple way to create your own game. Take business-card sized cards or slips of paper.
Write "description", "action", "thing", "person" and "place" on cards or slips of paper. Then write the specific Christmas themed thing, person, place, action or description.
After a few words - Santa, Angel, Jolly - you might have to get more creative. Winter themed words or words that center around the nativity make pretty good subjects for Christmas charades.

Charades cards make charades easier to come up with ideas, but sometimes it can add a challenging twist because you don't know what you'll be charading!
Some words are easy, but some are more difficult. Action words, or verbs, are always the easiest. Descriptions, or adjectives, are often the most difficult.
You can vary the level of difficulty by including only certain types of words.
How to Play Charades at a Party
To play charades, divide your group into teams, boys versus girls for instance. Place all the charades cards in a bowl and have one person from the starting team draw a card. The player acts out the word on the card without giving any verbal cues.
The team members of the person trying to act out the charade word get 60 seconds to try and guess the word. If they guess correctly, they get a point. If they don't guess correctly, the opposite team receives a point.
Teams take turns acting out words to earn points. When all of the words have been acted out and all of the points collected, the team with the highest score wins.
