Corporate Christmas Party IdeasWhite Elephant Gift ExchangeCorporate Christmas party ideas can inspire comradery and build interoffice relationships! If you're looking for fun Christmas gift exchange games, the white elephant game is sure to please. Each person is asked to bring a wrapped gift usually not to exceed a small dollar amount, such as $15.
In this Christmas game, each player opens a gift one at a time and decides whether to keep it or steal from a player who's opened a more desirable gift. Here's what you'll need:
Simply wrap up any silly little thing, re-gift, or odd item just begging for a laugh. Lava lamps, garden gnomes, even a roll of toilet tissue is fair game. Your guests arrive and place their gifts under the tree. Then, when everyone is ready, the first person draws a number and selects a gift. He opens it. And there you have it, the garden gnome emerges early in the game!
Your Money-Minded TipSo what's the "Money-Minded Tip? You're right! The opportunity to re-gift.Re-gifting is the ultimate in Green Christmas Party Ideas (you could even request gifts are "regifts"). You could chose something that is truly an "elephant." But often we also have nice things we've just don't value enough to take out of the closet or the storage unit.
![]() If you haven't used that lava lamp, that "treasured" knickknack or that juicer Aunt Bertha gave you for your wedding 10 years ago ... you might indeed have a "white elephant" opportunity.
Betty, happy person number 2, decides she'll keep it, of course, and she's not enticed by the garden gnome. But lo, her happiness is tenuous. Someone else will steal that snuggie ... that's my bet. And now the real fun begins. Guest number 3 opens her gift and low and behold it is that roll of toilet paper. Now is where the fun begins. Guest 3 decides she doesn't want any toilet paper, but she'd love the snuggie and "steals" the gift from Betty. Betty in turn gets to steal a gift. In this instance she decides she does need a garden gnome after all. Guest 1 has no choice but the "steal" the toilet paper. Only three steals can happen during each round. Also, each gift can only be stolen three times at which point it permanently belongs to the holder. For a twist, the host or game leader may elect to have the person who drew the first gift to go again at the very end of the game. The company or office manager may also select to hide a very desirable gift in with the other elephant gifts (such as movie tickets, or a gift certificate to a restaurant). This can increase the level of competition, and the fun.
