Costume Party IdeasCostume Party Ideas aren't just for Halloween (although that's what is so fun about Halloween). Costume parties are a great theme year round. Creating a themed costume party gives everyone a single idea to focus on. You can recreate an era like the 40s, 60s, or 80s. Or, you can center your theme around a single idea such as the "I Wouldn't Be Caught Dead In That!" costume party theme or the "Anything but Clothes Costume Party".
And, if you want the cure for guests who come to your party without a costume, play the "Mystery Costume Ambush" Game.
If you don't have something readily available in your closet, there are plenty of things to choose from at second-hand stores or online costume shops: prison costumes, pimp costumes, you name your excuse for wearing it! Put that outfit on and strut it like a peacock! You may have sworn, "I wouldn't be caught dead in that!", but now it's time to swallow those words. But never fear. Sunglasses, a wig, a trench coat, and other clever disguises help you make it through your greatest fears! And, if you're doing this costume theme as a Halloween theme, then you'll want to make a play on those words to "be caught dead" in that outfit. You'll want to show that you're in the afterlife with a pair of fangs, an arrow through your head, a bullet wound with toy gun, or some other way to show off the theme.
Annoyed with guests who show up to your costume party without a costume! The nerve. You'll never have a friend show without a costume again with this party game. Fill four or five boxes with everyday items to make a costume. Good items would be a roll of toilet paper, old sheet or fabric, scissors, colored pipe cleaners, tin foil, construction paper, duct tape, face paint, plastic tiara etc. Anyone who arrives to your party without a costume could fall victim. The costume-less guest must put his or her name into a hat. Divide all other guests into 4 or 5 groups and select 4 or 5 names from those without costumes. Allow each team to select one of the boxes. Keep the game fast moving. Give each team a short amount of time to create a costume, say five minutes. Blow a whistle to start, have guests cheer on participants, and blow the whistle to stop promptly after five minutes. The time limit really gets the creative juices flowing. Victims of the costume craze must wear their costumes for the rest of the night! |
