Cowboy Theme PartyGiddy up and get cowboy theme party ideas to recreate the wild west your kid has been dreaming about. The cowboy party theme is still one of the most popular kids birthday party themes today.
Cowboy Party GamesYour little buckoo will love playing cowboy party games with friends. Here are western party games cowboys love:Lasso Game: Get a rope, 'cause the first game is a doozie. First, tie a large hoop in a rope. Provide an item for the kids to lasso, such as a plush stuffed horse, or any ornament you like. Kids can try their luck at this tricky game. Consider small prizes for those who are able to complete the task. Pin the tail on the Donkey: This game naturally goes with the cowboy theme party. You remember it from when you were a kid. Now it's time to conjure it up once again. You can get a free printable pin the tail on the donkey game right here! Just join our newsletter to get free party printables. Kick the Can Relay Race: This one is simple. All you need is an empty tin can, an obstacle for kicks to race around, and space enough for a relay race. Divide kids into two teams and give each team a can. Create a start line and an obstacle (such as a chair) about 20 feet from the start line. The first player kicks the can from the start line, around the obstacle, and back to the start line. The second player then takes over, kicking the can in the same fashion. This continues on with each additional player. The first team to have each player successfully kick the can from the start, around the obstacle and back wins.
Cowboy Party Ideas and DecorationsIf you're lucky enough to have the space for an outdoor party, bails of straw can go a long way in your cowboy party decorations. Straw bails can provide seating and a red and white check tablecloth turns the bails into an instant table. They can be purchased at many flower nurseries.Use the traditional colors associated with the wild west. Red, blue, and brown are great colors for the cowboy theme party. Simple decorations such as blue streamers are an easy way to make a big impact. If you're creative and a little artistic, the possibilities are wildly open for a wild west party. Brown corrugated cardboard, like that on large moving boxes, is the perfect canvas for authentic western signs because it's the color of raw wood. You could create a sign for your front door that reads, "Wild West" and one for the kitchen or backyard barbeque area that reads, "Saloon", and another for the play area that reads, "Stables".
Finally, let kids know the theme and encourage dress up, even for the adults! A house full of cowboys is so much fun that you must take tons of photos! A few ideas for easy dress up include: a red bandana worn around the neck, a sheriff's star, a toy gun and holster, cowboy boots and hat, a Western shirt, and of course, blue jeans. Below are some of my favorite decorations and Western party supplies. I hope these picks will stir some great ideas for your party!
