What’s In a Name Baby Shower Game
After you receive your list of confirmed attendees, do a little Google research to find out the meaning of each person’s name. Create a print-out of the names and meaning to use as a fun quiz game at the party.
For example:
- Jennifer = White Wave (Welsh Origins)
- Emily = Admiring (Latin Origins)
- Sarah = Princess (Hebrew Origins)
- Emma = Universal (Latin Origins)
- Mary = Bitter (Hebrew Origins)
As guests arrive to the baby shower, provide each person with a nametag (this will help later for the game), a pen and a piece of paper. Read through the list of name meanings and have each guest guess what person’s name matches each name’s meaning.
As an icebreaker game, you can also create a list of all the meanings with a blank by each name. Print one sheet per guest.
Instruct guests to mingle and meet each person at the party. Once they meet another guest, they write that person’s name by the definition the feel most closely matches the name of the person they met.
After everyone has had a chance to fill out their game sheets, the host calls off each name along with it’s meaning. The person with the most correct answers wins!
After you’ve read the entire list, provide the guests with the answers. The guest with the most correct answers wins a prize.
Baby Traits Baby Shower Game
When it comes to easy baby shower games, you can’t get any easier than printable baby shower games. Just print and play!
Baby Traits is a very entertaining game for guests! Everyone is always taking bets on what the new baby will look like. Will he have mommy’s hair or daddy’s chin?
Find out what the mother and dad to be really think! This game is perfect for co-ed baby showers because it involves both the mother and father. You can also play it for ladies only baby showers by either asking the father to be the questions before the party or having his mother, sister or other female representative play it on behalf of the father’s side.
The game comes with a a list of baby traits and two placards, one labeled "Mom" and the other labeled "Dad" and game instructions.
All guests are given a game sheet which they fill out before mom and dad start playing. If they believe that Mom and Dad will not agree on who provides the baby trait, they mark the box labeled "tossup" on their game sheet. Otherwise, they select either ’Mom" or "Dad" on their game sheet.
Mom and Dad (or Dad’s representative) sit back to back so that they can’t see each other. Each have their respective placards: Mom holds the one labeled "Mom" and Dad holds the one labeled "Dad" placard.
The host reads off a baby trait one at a time. Mom or Dad or both hold up the placard representing who they think the baby will take after. For example, if the host reads off, "Who will provide baby with a beautiful singing voice?", and Mom thinks Dad will contribute that, she does NOT hold up her placard. If she thinks, on the other hand, that she WILL contribute the trait, she holds up her placard.
If they both hold up their placards than they don’t agree on who will contribute the baby trait, it’s a toss-up.
Each guest marks how many answers they correctly guessed. The person with the most answers that correspond to how Mom and Dad answered wins.
