Once you've got activities planned, be sure to visit our tailgating menus page for a sure bet on great football party food!
The Pre-Game Football Game What would tailgating be without a little game of pigskin to get you fired up for the main event? Nothing puts referees' calls and fumbled plays into perspective more than playing a light game of touch football first! For those who may not be up to the game, at least a game of passing the ball would be in order!
Popular Tailgating GamesHacky SackDon't have enough room to play touch football? Try Hacky Sack. It's an "oldie but goody" that's making a comeback. Basically, a hacky sack is a small sand filled ball. Players stand in a circle, and without using anything but their feet and knees, keep the ball airborn. Players toss to each other to see what maneuvers the next guy will use to keep the ball from dropping. It doesn't have to be competitive; it can just be fun. Play your football games in style. . With thousands of NFL products, and sports gear to choose from, you can't go wrong! Corn Hole or "Tail Gate Toss"
Corn hole is one of the hottest growing football party games for tailgating out there. It's great for any age, and a perfect game for girls and guys alike. Basically, it's like horse shoes, but much safer. Instead of tossing iron, you're tossing bean bags filled with corn. You can purchase the Corn Hole game at discount and hardware stores. It consists of two elevated platforms. Each platform has a hole at the far end. Four players per team toss bean bags approximately 30 feet from the Corn Hole board. If the bag goes in the hole the player scores 3 points. If it lands on the platform the player scores 1 point. The game continues until one team reaches the score of 21. Tailgating Scavenger Hunt This one's for college campuses, and it's a true scavenger hunt if I've ever heard of one. Football party games are often social, but this takes it one step further. The tailgating scavenger hunt works for college students who are most likely run into people they know in different parking lots around campus. Make a list of 10 items that you would like to find on your scavenger hunt and give the printed list to each couple or small group that's playing. The list can consist of items such as a shot of whiskey, a Budweiser beer, a hot wing, a shrimp cocktail, a chocolate chip cookie, a cell phone picture of ___ (you fill in the blank) ... or whatever items you'd like to scavenger. Find tailgating groups serving these items and see if they will offer some to you. It helps to offer them something in return, so check out our football party food page for some quick and easy recipes! Get contributors to sign the list next to the item they gave you. Reconvene to see who scavenged the most! Return from Football Party Games to Superbowl Party Games and Ideas
