Forty and FangulousBite into this birthday or Halloween party idea and you'll be transformed...forever (well, as least for the night!)
This submission was an entry in one of our fun monthly contests.
For a birthday party idea, the Vampire genre is a big hit for all ages, not just those turning forty. This party can be adjusted to fit anyone from a teen to adult. Of course,
Vampire party ideas and Halloween are a match made for each other!
Like our facebook page for updates on new contest opportunities. Tara of Orangevale, CA write in her fantangulous Vampire party ideas. My husband's birthday is at the end of September when Halloween Paraphernalia is steadily on store shelves. I have done some research for those wanting to throw this party at other times of the year online (links at end of party info). So stock up at Halloween or plan ahead with plenty of online order time for a super Fang-ulous Birthday party. Vampire Party Invitation Ideas:Evites are very popular and paperless. There are lots of styles online at www.evite.com.If you are the crafty planner that I am, you might enjoy creating your own cards. Once Bitten Invitation Idea:Print your invite info on ivory card stock with torn edges, or pyro-tech the edges a bit after printing. Leave a small margin in the center of the card stock. Take a few (maybe 12 at a time) lay them in a pile on a wood scrap, and nail two large nails through them 1/4 to a half inch apart (depends on size of nail).Lift the cards up and down on the nails a little and voila, FANG BITES! You can decorate with red paint marker or glitter to look like blood as well.
Other Vampire Invitation Ideas:Vampire Bat: cut bat shapes out on black construction paper. Glue white paper with printed party info in center and decorate. Fold wings in to close invite.Seeing Red: similar to the once bitten card just skip the fang marks and glue or staple red cellophane to the white or ivory card stock. Save the Date Vampire Bat Magnets: there is magnet paper you can run through your printer a simple black bat shape with the date of the party will be a fun reminder for guests to stick on their fridge. Vampire Party Decorations:We did some simple but fun decorations for our adult but kid friendly vampire fangolicious Birthday party; but there is no limit to how creative you can get with this theme. To cover tables, we bought simple plastic table clothes at the dollar store in red and black. I cut squares out of the center of the black table clothes and then slit the edge of them as well. I put the red down first and then the black. The red showed through just enough, and it actually looked a bit elegant instead of more creepy cliche' like an actual Halloween party. From the celing we hung vampire bat balloons. They are simple, cute and in expensive to make, guests loved taking them home and my cats really enjoyed them too! (looking at them that is).
Vampire Bat Balloon Instructions:For each bat you will need:
From the white cut ovals for the eyes (2) and long thin triangles for fangs (2). Tape wings and ears on with electrical tape after gluing pupil to white of eye use 2 sides scotch tape to tape eyes and fangs on. Tie fishing line around tails of bat and hang from ceiling (where wind flow from open window fan or door is fun because the bats actually flutter) Vampire Cake:We made a semi homemade cake for my husband that was a hit and can be altered to fit your fang-ulous forty's fang buds.Using a yellow cake mix and adding red food coloring (makes cake mix pink), we filled 2 different size round cake pans with the appropriate amount. Then we marbled it with chocolate fudge cake mix. This cake would look awesome as a red velvet but my husband is picky. We cut each cake and filled it with a cherry whip. (blending cherry pie filling until smooth with thick whip topping and a little dry cherry jello mix). Then we frosted with both dark and milk chocolate frosting (not top and bottom, but swirled together through the cake like a marbling effect). We adorn the cake with vampire kiss cookies (see directions below) saving a little cookie dough to make a tombstone that we decorated with the words "Vampy B-day Daddy" at the top. Vampire Kiss Cookies:With store bought sugar cookie dough, we rolled the dough and cut lip shapes with our valentine lip cookie cutter and decorated with red sugar. (follow cooking directions on roll) while still warm from oven place a mini Snicker or Milky Way bar half in center of cookie mouth (mini bar cut long way). After cooled, use white frosting and pipe two long white teeth across Snickers bar... place around cake (will be lots left over for yummy treats) I also found sugar bats and creepy sugar eyes that I placed around as well. It's easy to make ordinary food into freaky yummy vampish treats like stuffed black olives can be rotted frog toes or stuffed mushrooms can be rat brains etc.
Vampire Party Drinks:We covered 2 liter soda bottles with funny drink labels that said things like witches brew and vampire bloody Mary mix etc. We found ours at the dollar store, but you can also order them on line from AmazonYou can also order bottles of blood orange drink TRU BLOOD (yes from the HBO series) that can be used to mix a variety of drinks (a few drink ideas come with the bottles). Vampire Champagne is equal parts cranberry juice and cranberry seven up. Vampire Party Favors:We provided fangs for everyone it was fun to make them sing vampy birthday. Also we made "I'm vampire food" and "I'm the top of the food chain" tee shirts. This theme has endless variations so have fun and Vamp it out (fangs can also refer to were wolves too). Editor's Note:Fang-ulous entry for sure! This one's easy and fun to carry out with just some fangs and creativity! Of course, you can go all out too! for even more forty and fangulous ideas, check out our Twilight party page.
