Garden Theme Party
Don't enjoy your lovely garden alone. Have your friends over for an elegant garden theme party for a birthday, engagement or summer party.
Here a few ideas to inject a little panache:
Consider beginning the garden party at dusk. I once planned a garden party for a woman who had gorgeous oak trees in her back yard.
We gathered old chandeliers from antique stores and junk shops. We wired the chandeliers with plugs so they could be attached to outdoor extension chords. The chandeliers were hung from the branches of the oak trees at varying heights. The sun set and the chandeliers added an unmistakable ambiance of elegance.
Want the ambience of chandeliers without the cost? Similar effects can be accomplished with cafe lighting strands, garden luminaries, or paper lanterns. Rather than using all garden furniture, rent tables, chairs, and linens and set these throughout the garden for a unified and graceful feeling. When renting everything comes fresh and ready to use, and can be surprisingly cost effective for larger parties.
Use potted flowers and plants as table centerpieces. Decorate the base of the pot with a color coordinating wrapping paper or fabric and secure with a bow. A second idea for decorating tables is to gather vases that you already have or be creative and use teapots or bowls to display greenery, flowers, and even vegetables from the garden. If you don't have enough flowers purchase a few, but supplement with your own greenery.
