Halloween Party Games For Kids
Costume Scavenger HuntWhat a fun game for a night of trick-or-treating! Create two teams of scavenger hunters. Give each team a hunt list and an inexpensive digital camera. Include easy-to-find and slightly more challenging costumes on the list. The list could include: a witch, ghost, pirate, and vampire. For the more challenging costumes try less common costumes such as a monkey, zombie, ninja, and Starwars costumes. 10 to 15 items is a good number for the Halloween scavenger hunt. When the kids return from trick-or-treating download the photos so everyone can see what was found. The team who found the most costumes on the list wins this scavenger hunt.
Halloween Party Games for Kids: Pumpkin Sweep Relay RaceWho will "sweep up the competition" in this fun Halloween relay race?Begin by creating a "Start/Finish" Line. Divide children into two teams. And have the children line up behind one another at the start line. Place two large pumpkins about 30 feet from the start line. Provide a broom and small gourd or pumpkin for each team. The object is for each player to use the broom to push the gourd/pumpkin along the race path, around the large pumpkin, and back to the start line. Then the player hands the broom off to the next player who does the same thing. The team to finish first "makes a clean sweep" in this race!

Trick or Treat GameWill the player get a trick or treat? It's all in the luck of the draw!Write the words "trick" and "treat" on small slips of paper and fold them so players can't see what each slip says. Place the slips of paper in a bowl. One at a time, players go to the bowl and draw out a "trick" or "treat". If they receive a paper with the word "treat", they receive a Halloween treat instantly. If the player receives and "trick" he or she must perform a "trick" to get the treat. Here's an example a great trick that children enjoy playing. Fill a bowl with tiny marshmallows and place the bowl on a table. On the other end of the table place a small bowl or cup. Provide the player with a straw (use half-straws; cut them in half). The player must use the straw to suction a marshmallow. He or she runs to the other end of the table to drop the marshmallow in the cup. Use a stop watch or clock with a second hand. Give a time limit of 15 seconds. If the player drops the marshmallow, he or she tries again until time is up. If the player doesn't "earn" a treat, he or she may draw from the bowl with the slips of paper after everyone else has gone their turn. At the end of the game, everyone should have a treat.
Halloween Party Games for Kids: Witches HuntWhere is the witch hiding? That's what your little goblins will have to find out! For this game, one guest is the witch and all the others are the witch hunters. This game is a little different than classic hide and seek. You give "the witch" a special treat they'll pass on to the first witch hunter to find him or her. The player who finds the witch has the next turn at being the witch. If the player who first finds the witch has already won a special treat, that player stays quietly with the witch until they are found by another player. Then the treat is given to the second player who finds the witch. This way every player has a chance to win a special treat.
Halloween Party Games for Kids: Mummy WrapOh, the wonders of a roll of toilet tissue. You've spent years telling the kids not to clog the commode with gratuitous amounts of toilet tissue. And now you'll be tell them to waste away!Mummy Wrap is a relay race of sorts. Provide each team of two or three players with a roll of cheap toilet tissue. The first one to use the entire roll of tissue to wrap one player as a mummy wins. But wait, do you have older kids who need a bit of a challenge?! Divide groups into two players each. One player wraps the other as a mummy. No body parts can be showing. Then the mummy must take another roll of tissue and wrap his or her partner as a mummy. This added complication provides a little ingenuity on the part of tweens! Contact us to share your own Halloween party games for kids or party ideas for kids.
