Steal the Lei

Start by giving each person a flower lei. Tell guests that there is a "magic" word that no one can say during the night. Make it a common word that will be difficult to avoid, such as "beer" or "Hawaii".

If a guest says the word he or she must give their lei to the person they were speaking with.

The object of the game is to end up with the most leis by the end of the night. Those who are sneaky may try to get others to accidentally say the "magic" word by baiting them. For example, "Would you like a drink?" Then the friend answers, "Yes, a beer please."

And "Oops," that's the magic word!

Hula Hoop Dance Competition

For the hula competition, purchase 2 or 3 hula hoops and have participants "hula" until the hoop falls. The person who keeps the hoop from falling wins the round. Next, 2 or 3 different contestants compete. All the winners of the first round then compete with each other. The person who can hula hoop the longest is the grand winner.

Limbo Contest

In a limbo contest, two people hold a pole. The pole should be held at a height that everyone can pass under the first time and then lowered a few inches for the second pass and so forth. The person that can pass under the pole at the lowest height wins the limbo contest.

Hula Hoop Loop

How many Hawaiian Luau Party Games can be played with a hula hoop? The possibilities are practically endless. For Hula-Hoop-Loop divide guests into teams of 10 to 12 people. Have members of each team join hands.

The object is to pass a hula hoop from the start of the line to the end of the line without breaking hands. This can get a little crazy as guests try to figure out the easiest way to pass through the loop. If the hands are broken then the team must start over with the hula hoop at the beginning of the line. The team that finishes first wins.
