Hoe Down Party FoodTin buckets, instead of coolers, give a country feel. Fill them with ice, and serve bottles of soda or beer. You can also serve party snacks such as flavored popcorn, chips, and more in tin buckets. For the main meal, a bbq or chili cook-off is perfect for a hoe down. It's simple and everybody loves a bbq. If you do a chili cook-off, each guest brings his or her best recipe. You can have a contest to see whose chili is the 'Best in the West'. For an evening hoe down, smores are a great finish to the food. If you live where you can create a little campfire, then perfect. If not, a fire pit is just as good. Bring out the chocolate bars, graham crackers, peanut butter, and marshmallows, and the rest is pure creativity! Hoe Down Party DecorationsStart by decorating the yard with rectangular hay bales for seating. Hay bales can also be used as tables to serve the food.Just stack them and place table clothes over the top. If you're having a late night party you can string some lights or get some table lanterns as well. Use picnic tables for people to sit and eat. If you don't have enough lawn furniture you can borrow it from friends or rent picnic tables from a rental supply company. Oh yeah, play some good country music. A nice mix of country classics and new country-pop will satisfy a variety of people.

But the most popular hoe down activity is a hay ride! For the best hayride, you'll need a truck. Fill the bed with hay, of course.
