How To Carve A Pumpkin!

Download and print pumpkin stencils. This is probably the most important tip for getting a great design.

Once you have selected a pumpkin stencil, select a pumpkin that will fit that stencil.

Of course, printable pumpkin stencils can be printed at 80 or 90 percent their original size to create a smaller stencil if needed.

Wash and dry your pumpkin. Use a carving knife to cut around the top stem of your pumpkin.

This part will be the hardest part of the pumpkin to remove. Don't be afraid, just go for it.

Remove all of the pulp from the pumpkin. Don't throw the seeds away!

The seeds can be baked with salt and or pumpkin pie spice for a tasty treat. Yummy!

Use a Pumpkin Stencil

Use an Exacto knife, pen, ice pick or other similar instrument to score along the dotted lines of the stencil.

Go all the way through the stencil, don't cut the pumpkin yet! At this point you're just making marks to guide you through the carving process.

Remove the stencil from the scored pumpkin, and set it aside. Use it as a reference.

Using the stencil as a reference is particularly important for complex designs such as spider webs, Frankenstein, the furry spider stencil, and other advanced stencil you'll find in our e-book.

Carve out the grey portions of the stencil.

For advanced stencil patterns, remove the grey sections a piece at a time. Removing each section carefully.

Once the pumpkin has been carved and any additional pulp cleaned away, place a candle inside and enjoy!
