Giving a Gift to Jesus
God gave us the incredible gift of Jesus. Jesus gave us the most precious gift of his life. Have each guest give a gift back to Jesus.Examples of gifts to give to Jesus could include giving up an addiction, forgiving someone, taking better care of yourself, etc.
Guests would write down their gift on paper and place it in a container at the party. When asking each guest to come up with a gift for Jesus, you could ask it in the invitation, or ask each person to do this at the party itself.
Consider including the request in the invitation so that your guests have some time to think about their gift.
This can be done a couple of different ways. First, you could wrap an empty box to look like a gift, or just use an empty can, jar, or other container.
Next, you can choose to have the guests write their name on the entry and place them in the container. Later, you could pull an entry/name for a prize.
If you want to keep your guests gifts private, you could have a separate entry box for just the names. You would have one container for the "gift," and a second container for your guests' names.
Obviously, you have your guests provide a "gift" if they are entering their name into the other container. If done this way, none of the entries would have names on them to deter them from giving a wonderful gift.
Pick a name or an entry from your box and give a prize to the winner. (see keeping Christmas in Christmas party favors and homemade gift ideas). You wouldn't have to pick a name and give a prize, but it may encourage guests to participate.
You could read all of the gifts aloud, or choose to burn the box. It really depends on what is comfortable for you and your guests. If it is a family affair where everyone is comfortable with reading them aloud, you may do that.
However, if you risk embarrassing someone, you should not read them aloud. Personally, I think that the box should be burned and the gifts kept between the gift-giver and Jesus.
Jesus is Everywhere
Send out your invitations two weeks before the party. In your invitation include this challenge: have each guest bring something or a picture of something to the party in the form of a cross. Here are some examples:

At the party judge the pictures or items. You could have the most original, most creative, etc. Prizes can be given to encourage participation.
This great challenge will keep Jesus in their minds for the two weeks prior to party because they will always be searching for crosses everywhere. This is a great way to keep people remembering Christ during the Christmas season!
