Living in the Past Party
The living in the past party theme is a little different than just an 80s themed party or disco party. For this party theme, guests are invited to come from an era that's their favorite. Get ready for 80s prom queens, 40s gangsters, and 20s flappers to party down under one roof! For a retro party theme like this one, costumes are lots of fun. Guests can make it as elaborate or as easy as they like. The great thing about this type of costume party is that anything goes, so it's easy to find a costume for little money at a thrift store, discount store, or even in your own closet (we won't tell)!
How to Create the Best Retro Party ThemesMusic: Create a compilation of different music from a variety of eras. Living in the Past: Retro Party ThemesKelli Mounce of San Antonio, TX tells us about her retro party theme. For my 35th birthday party I had a L.I.P Party: Living In the Past Party. We chose the 60's, 70's and 80's themes. I asked everyone to dress up in costume from their favorite era. I provided different foods from each era. And also did some online research and brought in retro candy for each era. I purchased decorations for each era online and put them all around the house. I also held a costume contest. We had people dressed in tie dye, some Madonna's and even a Paul Stanley from KISS (it was a woman who came this way). I also purchased a couple if compilation CD's from each era. We actually did the Hustle! Everyone had such a great time. I think they enjoyed listening to the music we grew up with, and dressing up as we did back in the day.
