Make a Treasure HuntMake a Treasure hunt part of your pirate party ideas! There are lots of ways to play a treasure hunt game. Here you'll find an easy version for the little buckeneers, one that involves reading a treasure map, and another that's all about scavenger hunt fun.
Make a Treasure Hunt
Treasure Hunt With a MapFor this game, you'll create a "real" treasure chest and several "false" treasure chests. Treasure chests can be made out of boxes and wrapped in brown paper, Or you canYou should create one treasure box for each guest attending. All of them should look the same on the outside. For the "real" treasure, fill the box with goodies appropriate for your child's birthday party or Halloween party. This might include candy, chocolate coins, matchbox cars, costume jewelry, and other small toys, games, and puzzles. Make it an obvious jack pot with a note that says "You've Found the Real Treasure Chest!" If you prefer to give notes that your pirates can exchange for candy and other goodies, we also have "Pirate Booty Dollars" free printable play money. They're available on the page you see after joining Themed Party Ideas Party-zine.
Some Really Terrific Pirate Inspired Goodies To Add To Your Treasure Chest Include:
For the "fake" treasures, place a silly gag gift that your partygoers would find funny, but is not the "treasure". A silly gag gift might be a , a whoopee cushion, or an egg filled with silly putty. Place a number on each treasure. Hide the treasures around the party site, either outside or indoors. Make a treasure hunt map with all of the locations of each treasure. We found a really cool you can use to create your custom maps. These inexpensive maps add an authentic touch and really tie the pirate party theme together. The numbers of the treasures should correspond to the numbers on the map. Give each child a treasure map. Write the numbers for the treasures on a slip of paper, fold them, and place them in a bowl. Each child draws a number. The number they draw is the number of the treasure they need to find. Let the children go find their treasures. Tell them they aren't to open them until the end of the game (if you can manage to!). Once all the children find their treasure chests, have them gather to open them one at a time. They will laugh at the gag gifts and ogle at the treasure!
