To play the mums the word party game, the hostess selects a word that is forbidden during the party.
When friends arrive, give each one a cheap plastic necklace or some other small item they can display or wear.
The hostess lets everyone know the forbidden word. It should be something typical said at the party. For example, if it's a Christmas party then no one can say the word, "Christmas" or "Gifts", etc.
If someone says the word they must give their necklace to the person they were talking to. So, it's really funny to try to trick someone into saying the forbidden word.
The person with the most necklaces at the end of the night wins.
We've played this at Christmas parties and it's really fun to give a prize to the winner at the end of the night.
