What's faster than the cars on the Bristol motor speedway? Time! It flies. So, there's no time like the present to start planning a
Nascar themed party he (or she) is going to love.
Friends have asked me to give tips on planning a Nascar party theme for some time now. It never occured to me before they asked what a hot party theme Nascar is.
I was inspired to write this page because a friend of mine is hosting a party for her husband who will be turning 50, and he loves all things Nascar. Mind you, this is a great creative party theme idea for people of all ages.
Guests can fuel up at your Nascar style pitstop. I like the idea of serving food that you'd get at a race with a twist to make it really fun.
The twist is that you can create a "bar" for your food with lots of toppings so that friends can customize their selection.
Here are some, but not all, of the food ideas you could do for a pitstop bar. Just choose the ones you like, or make up your own.
Popcorn Bar: Have individual popcorn servings in brown paper lunch bags for a day-at-the-races feel. Some people like sweets mixed in with popcorn and others like a salty taste. Display despensers for butter, salt, pepper, curry spices, Tobasco, m&m candy, brown sugar, and the like are great choices to create a fun "spice your own
popcorn" bar.
Hot Dog Bar: You can't have sports without hotdogs, so it's a top choice for this theme party. Create the vendor feel by individually wrapping them in sheets of tin foil or wax paper. You probably have your favorites for hotdogs. Here are mine: mustard, chopped onions (or grilled onions if you want to get fancy), pickle relish, sauerkraut, ketchup and Tobasco sauce (Tobasco goes with everything!).
Barbeque Sandwich Bar: Wow! I'd love this party bar. Coleslaw, salsa, barbeque sauce, pickle relish, baked beans.
Nacho Bar: A plain queso in a crock pot is a great start. Ideas for toppings include: jalapenos, chopped onions, shredded cheese, cilantro, tomatoes, and salsa.
Ice Cream Bar: Ok, for this, any toppings are fabulous. Try whipped cream, chocolate candies, fruit pieces, nuts; the sky is the limit!
Cupcake Bar: Cupcakes are all the rage. This idea works great for kids because the little ones just love decorating their own cupcakes. Jellybellies, chocolates, Twislers, and sprinkles are good choices.
The Nascar party theme works for all age groups, but you'll want customize your bar selections to the ages you're serving. For example, if you have an ice cream bar, kids may enjoy
For kids, gummy worms may be great toppings, but adults might prefer chocolate morsels or nuts, etc.
Nascar Party Decorating Ideas
The Nascar theme is best brought to life with decorations. Really, it's about 90 percent of it in my opinion. So make a grand entrance for your guests. Black and white checked flags at the entrance or pennants set the theme from the moment partiers
step throw the door.
Record great races and play them on your TV. Have the volume on low so the race is more of a background event rather than a focal point.
Dress the Guests
If your guests are fans, they probably have Nascar hats and t-shirts. Encourage them to wear them. The more people at the party with fan gear, the better.
Amazing Homemade Invitation Ideas
Kids will love receiving this fun homemade invitation.
First create ticket stubs for the racing event. If you're good with your computer you can get a Nascar logo off the internet to decorate
your tickets and make them seem more offical. Otherwise, use nascar stickers like those found on our Nascar party supplies page.
Next, purchase matchbox style cars from your local dollar store (one per invite).
Place one car and one ticket along with a little Nascar tissue paper (also available on the party supply page) in a small box. Wrap the boxes with black and white checked paper or brown paper and hand deliver or mail.
These invites are sure to rev up excitement for your Nascar party theme!
