Paris Paris the Twisted Poker Game
If you want to learn how to play card games that everyone from young to mature will really enjoy, this one's for you. It gets great reviews. We at Themed-Party-Ideas think this would make a great ladies night in party idea. Play it and see! Mirah writes: In order to get the full satisfaction out of playing this game, you'll need a deck of cards, some poker chips or something to substitute as them, some presents that are worth different amounts such as 5, 10, or 20 dollars (so that when the chips are cashed in the recipient will receive a present at the correct value) and a group of fun friends. The poker chips are each worth a dollar. Five poker chips would represent the 5 dollar present, 10 would represent the 10 dollar present, and so on with the highest amount being the 20 dollar present. Each player would receive the proper amount of poker chips based on the worth of the present they brought to the party.
This submission was an entry in one of our fun monthly contests.
The host of the party may decide to change it up and buy all the presents him or herself to contribute to the game. They would purchase different gifts all at different costs; again, the highest amount being 20 dollars.
Like our facebook page for updates on new contest opportunities. They would wrap the gifts and their guests would choose from a hat or bowl how many chips they would get to play with. Players sit in a circle with your group of friends, then shuffle the deck of cards a couple of times. After doing so, pass the cards to the person on your right, and ask them to cut it in half. Then take the cards back and pass them out one at a time, starting with the person on your left, going clockwise and stopping once everyone has 5 cards. This process is done in order to make sure the game is played fair and that the dealer isn't giving himself a good hand on purpose. Each player bets one poker chip per round. After the dealing has been done, the person to your left starts the game by opening the top card from the deck. The object of the game is to get rid of your non-pairing cards by obtaining pairs while discarding the non-pairs by either picking up a pair or by laying down a pair due to the previous persons card drop. Let's say the person to your left opened a 5 of clubs. That means that the next player can either put down a 5 of some sort along with another card or pick up a card from the deck while only putting down one random card from their hand. The same process continues with each player until one of players gets all pairs and wins the round and the chips in the ante. When everyone is satisfied with the amount of chips they have, they exchange their poker chips for a present worth the same value. By the end of the game guest's chips would either double or they would lose it all and have to cash in their chips before that happens so that they will be guaranteed to at least win the five dollar prize. The game continues until all the players receive their present =) My uncle taught my cousins and I how to play this game and ever since, we've had so much fun and laughs playing together! Hope you will too :) Paris Paris: the twisted poker game received comments from visitors who really liked it. Made my brain work in an exciting way! Taught it to my kids and they had a blast - Beth I tried this game recently with my group of college buddies, and it was absolutely fun! Thanks for the idea. - Anonymous
