Princess Baby Shower Ideas
These princess baby shower ideas are a perfect way to treat a special mommy-to-be in your life. Baby showers are such a special and memorable time for new parents, and it’s a great reason to shower the mommy-to-be with love and support.
If your guest of honour knows that she’s having a girl, it’s double the reason for a princess baby shower theme. If she knows she’s having a boy, some cute prince touches to the party are an excellent way to celebrate the sweet baby boy on the way.
Some new parents prefer to have the baby shower after their bundle of joy has arrived. Most of the princess baby shower ideas you see here are customizable for a shower either before or after the baby’s arrival.
Princess Baby Shower Ideas: Invitations
Making your own invitations for a princess themed shower is fairly easy to do with some pink cardstock, a printer and some adhesive jewels or pearls. Baby shower invites don’t have to include a lot of information so a single page invitation should provide plenty of space. Be sure to include:- Mommy-to-be’s name: first and last name. If she’s recently married include the maiden name, since some family members or friends may not recognize the new last name.
- Hostess name
- Date and time of the shower
- Address for the shower (you may want to include an small map insert in the envelope)
- If she has announced the gender of the baby, include this information for guests.
- A phone number and email address to RSVP to. Include a date that you’d like to receive responses by.
- Some people list the gift registry in the invitation, and some just pass that information by word of mouth. You can check with the mommy-to-be on her preference.
Princess Baby Shower Ideas: Décor
For a princess baby shower, you’ll want to use a lot of pink and silver decorations. If the mommy to be knows she’s expecting a boy, add in baby blue accents as well. Fresh flowers are always a beautiful decoration, and what kind of party would it be without a few helium balloons?!
You may also want to give your mommy-to-be a princess sash and tiara to wear for the party. If it’s in your budget, chair covers with sashes and table linens really add a lot to the décor.
From your local craft supply store, purchase some pink and white diamond shaped decorative paper weights to place on the food, gift and favour tables. These are a simple but pretty added-touch that would look great around the punch bowl.
Table centerpieces of small glass decorative bowls wrapped in pink, blue or silver ribbon filled with personalized miniature chocolate bars are both a sweet decoration and a delicious party favour. Check out this sweet princess design at Shindigz.com.
If some of your guests are children, set up a craft corner with a child size table and chairs set, crayons and princess and prince coloring pages, stickers and stamps.
If you are hosting the shower after the baby has been born, be sure to provide a quiet and comfortable area that the mom can use to feed her baby.
Princess Baby Shower Ideas: Games and Activities
The games at a baby shower are always a guaranteed way to share a few laughs. You can spread these games out a bit in between snacking and the gift opening. It’s a good idea to start the shower by introducing everyone to each other. You can do this by having each guest take a turn telling everyone how they know the mommy-to-be.Pin The Kiss On The Toad
Using a large printout of a toad or frog prince, create a game similar to Pin the Tail On The Donkey. Print out several sets of pink lips (number the back so people know which one is theirs) and take turns blindfolding each guest, spin them around once or twice and then have them try to pin the lips on the toad’s lips. The person who gets the closest is the winner. A cute prize idea is to purchase one of those "Grow a Prince" novelty toys (click here for one online).Who Is My Prince Charming?
Put together a matching game of famous princesses and their love interests and provide each guest with a printout. The goal of the game is to be the first guest to match all of the famous princesses with their love interests.
You could set a timer and the person with the most correct answers at the end is the winner. For one of the princesses, be sure to include your mommy-to-be’s name. Here are some ideas for famous princesses (with their prince charming listed in brackets behind them). Click here for the free printable baby shower matching game!

Tips For The New Mom
Provide each guest with a small note card and a pen to write the mommy-to-be a new mommy tip or a special wish. Other ideas for notes are: (1) Why you know the new mommy is going to be a great mother, (2) A trait of the new mommy that you admire and hope the baby inherits. You’ll hang onto these cards and use them for a scrapbook project after the party. I’ll talk about the scrapbook idea in more detail below.Princess Baby Shower Ideas: Photo Fun
Set up a photo area where each guest can take a fun photo with the mommy-to-be. Be sure each guest has an opportunity to get their picture taken. Create a pink background with a little bling (silver accents).
Provide optional accessories such as feather boas, princess tiaras, diapers, soothers, stuffed animals, pink and blue question marks glued onto sticks/paddles, etc. You’ll use these photos in the scrapbook after the party. You may also want to provide additional copies for the mommy-to-be so she can include these as a personalized touch in her thank you cards.
Guessing Baby’s Arrival
Create a large poster board of a calendar with the baby’s due date marked. Have each guest write their name on a date square for when they think the baby will be born along with a guess on the time of birth and the baby’s weight and length. If the mom hasn’t announced the gender of the baby yet, you could provide two pens (one pink and one blue).
Those who think the baby is a girl would use the pink pen and guests who think the baby is a boy would use the blue pen. Be sure to take a picture of the completed poster board to include in the scrapbook idea listed below. Once the baby arrives, you could send the winner a small prize.
Princess Baby Shower Ideas: Food
Small dainty finger foods and appetizers are a popular choice for baby showers. Here are a few ideas for party food:- Sandwiches using cookie cutters (like a tiara) to make fun shapes out of your sandwiches
- A tray with a variety of cheeses, crackers and meat
- Vegetables and dip
- Taco chips with salsa and guacamole
- Hot spinach & artichoke dip – my personal favourite!
If you don’t have the time to make a lot of foods from scratch, the freezer section of your local grocery store will have plenty of appetizer foods to choose from.
Princess Baby Shower Ideas: Drinks
In a large punch bowl, make pink lemonade (with sliced lemons floating on the top) or another type of pink punch. Using champagne or wine glasses with the punch is a nice added touch.
You could also place bottles of non-alcoholic wines or spritzers on each table.
Princess Baby Shower Ideas: Dessert
My favourite part of any meal is the dessert! Some options for dessert are:- Chocolate dipped fruit (both fresh fruit and dried fruit)
- Cream puffs
- Fruit kabobs
- A tiered cake with pink and silver tiers
- Tiara shaped cookies with pink icing and some edible silver shimmer decorations
- Cupcakes with princess toppers in pink or silver cupcake liners
- Using a cake mold, create a baby carriage or princess castle cake
- Edible fruit arrangement
Princess Baby Shower Ideas: Favours
For my wedding I ordered frog prince cookies (click here for a sample) that were too cute! This would be a cute idea for a Princess Baby Shower favour as well.
At your local craft store in the wedding favour section you’ll find small carriages that can be used as favour containers. You could fill these with pink or blue (or both) chocolate covered candies. Personalized M&M's a special added touch as well.
A favour idea for those who like to bake is to provide each guest with a jar of baby carrot food wrapped in decorative paper along with a recipe card for making carrot bread out of baby food. Here is the delicious recipe that I use (click here for free printable recipe cards).
Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2/3 c. water
- 4 small jars of carrot baby food
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 c. chopped nuts
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 c. vegetable oil
Directions:
- Sift together flour, soda, salt, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon
- Combine eggs, water, vegetable oil and baby food
- Add to dry ingredients and mix until well blended
- Stir in nuts
- Pour batter into 2 well-greased loaf pans
- Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean
Princess Baby Shower Ideas: Scrapbook
After the party, use the mom tip cards and photos to create a special keepsake for the mommy-to-be. Start it off with something like “Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, there was a princess named {insert name here}”.
If you know how the parents-to-be met, you may want to include a short blurb in your storybook about that too. Write about your reaction when you heard the great news of the baby prince or princess on the way. Insert the tip cards along with the corresponding photos on the remaining pages.
I hope you enjoyed these princess baby shower ideas. Happy Planning!
