Surprise Party Ideas for Your Adult Birthday Party!
Pull Off the Plausable White LieLet's start with the little white lie. Send invitations to your surprise party and let guests know it's a surprise. Guests should arrive at least 30 minutes before the birthday person, so plan for this in the invitation. It's important to have plausable white lie to tell the guest of honor. The plausable lie is two-fold. First, it's believable. Next it masks the fact that you might have party items or plans for the birthday guy or gal (right there at home or the party location). Here are some examples of plausable surprise party ideas for lying. The white lie should give the birthday person a reason they cannot stay home (or if the party is at another home or location, why they cannot go to that location).
Now that your loved one knows you're having a party, and they're not invited, you must further throw them off the scent. Any birthday person knows that a loved one wouldn't host a party on the same night that their birthday party should be. How do you fix this? Simple. Arrange a lack-luster birthday before the party date. Go to a restaurant or make a meal and invite the person's parents, and maybe two friends. That's it. Have everyone wish him or her a happy birthday. If you're at a restaurant, be sure to have the wait staff bring a cake and sing "Happy Birthday". The birthday person thinks it's done and over...just another birthday gone by. One Last Note on the Plausable Lie: Nip Blabbers in the Bud! Everyone knows who the party spoilers are - those people who can't keep a secret. If you invite a known blabber-mouth, the only one being surprised will be you when you find out that birthday person already knew. The solution is to surprise the blabberer with the same lie you used to distract the birthday person.
Arrange the DistractionOnce you've created the plausable lie, arrange a distraction. You'll need a recruit for this. Distractions will be easy with lies like the ones listed above. The birthday person already knows he or she needs to be out of the house. The person you recruit to help with the distraction will go along with the birthday person to make sure any planned activity ends at just the right time. The best distractions are ones that can be ended at any time during the activity. Examples are shopping, hanging out with buddies, hitting golf balls (but not golfing). If the person needs to be gone all day, then select a long activity such as trip to an out of the way antique mall or a day of golf. Followed by a drink at a sports bar or coffee shop that is close to the party location.
This recruit should call or text before ending the activity to make sure it's okay to bring the birthday person home or to the location.
Nothing is better than the birthday person being greeted with lots of fanfare! Throw a Great Party With Creative Adult Birthday Party IdeasYour surprise ideas shouldn't stop at the surprise.
